About Us
Jeff Rapp has been covering Ohio State athletics virtually since he
graduated from the university more than 20 years ago. Now one of the
leading sportswriters for collegiate athletics and a longtime analyst of
the OSU programs, Rapp’s sharp, comprehensive analysis draws the dotted
line for fans – ranging from perspective drawn from programs past to
foresight on where a team is headed.
Rapp is one of the most tenured beat writers covering the Buckeyes and
his commentary has been prominently featured over the years in national
and regional publications and online news services. He’s currently is a
voting member of the Heisman Trophy Trust and is a regular voice for the
largest AM station in Columbus, 610 WTVN, serving as an Ohio State
football and basketball analyst as part of its “Best Buckeye Coverage.”
Rapp began his career in journalism even before starting college when he
worked for ABC Sports during the 1984 Summer Olympics. After joining
the journalism program, he wrote for The Ohio State University
newspaper, the Lantern, before graduating in 1988. He went on to write
for such daily newspapers as Neighbor News, The Columbus Dispatch and
Delaware Gazette, and has contributed to national magazines such as
Basketball Monthly, Yankees Magazine, Athlon Sports, and many regional
publications including Ohio High, Buckeye Beat, Competition Sports, Ohio
Golfer, Reds Report, Blue Jackets Beat and the Ohio State Alumni
Magazine.
For two decades Rapp has written countless articles and columns on Ohio
State athletics, cutting his teeth at Scarlet & Gray Illustrated,
moving on to a lengthy stretch as senior writer at Buckeye Sports
Bulletin, and most recently becoming an online presence and featured
magazine writer for Bucknuts Media.
In 2003, Rapp wrote “Stadium Stories: Colorful Tales of the Scarlet and
Gray.” He is a longstanding member of the Football Writers Association
of America and the U.S. Basketball Writers Association and has won
multiple awards from the College Sports Publishers Association.
